Moons 2012     Once a year we looking ahead at the year to come using the natural rhythm of the waxing and waning moon cycles of each month. This is a hands-on event and you will work specifically with your natal chart. Even so, you don't need to be an astrologer to attend. It’s new territory in many ways because many of our parents didn’t see themselves as elders.  They came to this point at a time when the surrounding culture worshipped only what was young and new. Explore with me what might be required of us as we make this transition in a world that seems to be falling apart (does the world ever seem otherwise? I can’t remember…) Of course I use the wisdom of astrology to guide these sessions. There are four classes  which are experiential as well as informative. The fifth meeting is a ritual. For people 55 years and older – up to any age. It is always useful to understand the beginning of a cycle even long after you have passed it. The idea is that by the end of the sessions you will have your own manual for how to deal with the third stage of life.   If you live someplace other than Toronto and you would like to do this workshop with people you already know I am willing to travel. This is the only time it can oppose the Sun, the King.  In 2012 it starts on January 23, 2012 and goes direct on April 13, 2012. The actual opposition of Mars to the Sun is on March 4, 2012.  You don't need to be an astrologer to come to this workshop. If they are, we would be well served if we had a map! Astrology provides us with a guide to where our teenagers live. Having this map can help direct parents in their quest to understand the ‘alien’ in their midst. In this workshop we look at the cultural backdrop as well as the specific chart of your teen(s). This mirror is a powerful way to understand ourselves as individuals as well as through time. The stages of human development can be described through astrology in a way that provides insight into our being, and therefore to become more conscious of our human nature. It is not a leap for astrologers to see that one of the most directly accessible means of mythological perception is astrology. We could amend this quote just a bit (with apologies to Joseph Campbell) to say,  It would not be too much to say that astrology (as an interpreter of myth) is one of the secret openings through which the inexhaustible energies of the cosmos pour into human cultural manifestation.  This workshop explores the cultural manifestations of myth in our current world and how it is changing, even as we speak!
