Insights for Gemini
May 20:
Sun enters Gemini: 2:54 PM EDT
(Reminder: Just before the Sun enters Gemini today, it sextiles Saturn. Even if you think you are exhausted from all the quantum leaps the world is making, the planets are not. Like it or not we are in transition; all of us, not just some of us. We are not moving from one side of a polarity to the other. We are likely transitioning from polarization itself. It’s a dynamic call for integration. We are not called to take sides. It’s more mysterious than that.)
Whatever we thought Gemini was about before the internet, it has changed… It has always been about communication, language, and the fluctuation between this world and the other(s). The internet has unloosed the more diabolical powers of Gemini; the sorcerer’s apprentice whos M.O. is to move fast, break things and generally wreck the joint. Clearly it’s time for the Sorcerer to return and put the apprentice back to work cleaning the floors, to create some order out of so much chaos. Lucky for us that this Sorcerer resides inside our own mind as well as the collective mind, inside your head. Gemini glories in the 10,000 things, the birds and the bees, the winged ones, as well as each and every petal ,gracing even the tiniest of flowers. The blades of grass and maybe even the hairs on your head. When we marvel at the world and engage it with focused curiosity we dance the Gemini dance. When we allow ourselves to be jerked hither and yon by images and promises, talking heads and algorithmic prompts we are at the mercy of the apprentice. We become playthings of a diabolic magic which is most dangerous because we think we aren’t. Once upon a time there was time for reading, writing, learning and genuine communication between minds. Take care not to squander that amazing mind you were given. It is the Sorcerer, not their apprentice.
The Sun in Gemini will sextile Neptune and Chiron, trine Pluto conjunct Mercury and, of course engage with the wax and wane of the Moon. You can follow along below.
May 22
Sun sextile Neptune
A glimmer of opportunity in a sea of change. New ideas are like dandelion puffs in the breeze. Some of them will take root, some won’t.
May 24
Sun trine Pluto
Mercury conjunct Uranus
Saturn enters Aries
Saturn planet of structure, authority, definition and limits, joins Neptune in the hot-button sign of Aries. Could be time for ‘boots on the ground’ and then again it could be time to restrict or maybe define how we plan to insure our survival. Some say it’s the end of everything, others see it as a (long) moment called an extinction burst. How we imagine what we are experiencing matters because it helps us determine our behaviour. Where thought meets reality is a powerful intersection. Imagination makes all the difference. Don’t let the machine do your imagining.
May 25
Mercury enters Gemini
Mercury sextiles Saturn
An affirmation that change is not only inevitable but also can be good. Opportunities for new ideas and new ways to encounter circumstances are everywhere. The less we do just before a New Moon, the better. Simple awareness of things as they are, including the way things seem is powerful today.

New Moon: 06* Gemini: 11:02 PM EDT
We have been and are scattered like leaves in a whirlwind of mis-and dis-information. Truly the most important thing is where, how and how much you focus your mind, your thoughts. A good way to do this is to grapple with your life as it appears on paper (maybe not exactly paper). Understanding information that speaks to your personal situation such as your actual credit card debt, your annual income compared to your expenses, can help overcome feelings of impending doom. An intention to crunch the numbers is in order. Budget!
May 27
Mercury trine Pluto
The power of the mind to focus continues to be the theme for this period. It can help you sleep, get you through the days with calm awareness rather than the anxious alternatives of distraction and denial. It can transform your life. No one can see the thoughts inside your mind but everything we do is an expression of them.
May 30
Mercury conjunct the Sun
The mind, Mercury, flickers in and out on the horizon of our thoughts as it regenerates itself in the fire of the Sun. If you aren’t sure what or where to focus your attention you might turn toward your heart. Because we love the world and each other the wheel of time and life continues to turn. Because we love. (Rob Brezsny quoted this in one of his newsletters which I can no longer find…)
June 1
Venus conjunct Chiron
It would be exciting if it wasn’t so scary to witness the changes in our world. The overload is something to consider. As well as possibilities for a world of value rather than simply a world which worships at the altar of what we call ‘economics’, a world undoubtedly worth fighting for. Where is the wisdom in all this? How can you stand at the cusp of change with excitement as well as fear? Is it silly or profoundly quantum theoretical to imagine angels crowded on the head of a pin? Do they fight for a place to stand? Or do they assume there is room for all?
June 4
Venus sextile Jupiter
Underscoring the excitement and the disorder of change, Venus finishes her stay in Aries with some encouragement to look ahead at what might change for the better. Only in fiction do the gods and goddesses actually reach down and meddle in our affairs. In our lived experience it is up to us how their messages are carried through the times and in the spaces we inhabit.
June 5
Mercury sextile Mars
Express yourself through your actions! If you think it’s a good idea it’s worth a try. If not now, when?
June 6
Mercury sextiles Chiron
Venus enters Taurus
Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Mars will all change signs between the 6th and the 18th. Although they move more swiftly and change more frequently than the slower planets, this is still a lot of change in a relatively short period of time. Venus is home in Taurus. We are reminded that we are part of nature and the proof of that is in our ability to know the world through our physical senses: the doors of perception. The body matters. It is THE matter.
June 08
Mercury conjunct Jupiter
Mercury enters Cancer
These two planets are on a mission. Between now and June 18th they will both square Neptune and Saturn in Aries. Cancer reminds us that security requires care. Cancer is water and nourishes the past. Aries pushes through. Aries is fire and leans into the future. Cancer demands a place to live. Aries drives on into toward the next best thing, regardless of need. Perhaps this conjunction and the squares it will be making are about keeping each sign in check. Measuring our needs against the call of the future. How is this alive in your particular circumstances?
June 09
Mercury square Saturn
Venus square Pluto
Jupiter enters Cancer
Mercury square Neptune
A powerful day on the threshold of time. A day laced with fear and strength, resistance and demand. A time when lines will be drawn but not necessarily as expected. An indication of the tenuous shape of our conditions. (If this sounds obscure it’s because 3 squares and an ingress, all on the same day seems quite demanding but demands are not the same for everyone. Some will rise to meet conditions, others, not so.) In any case, a good time to slow down your reactivity until you understand the consequences for children and other living things.
June 10
Mars trine Chiron
It is possible to act wisely: to be strong as well as tender, motivated by a noble heart which appreciates love as the greatest power.
June 11
Full Moon: 20* Sagittarius: 03:43 AM EDT
Mercury sextile Venus
Whose story are you in? If it’s not one you recognize or accept, time to turn the page. So many stories in the naked city. A day to let the arrow of visionary possibilities fly into the heart of the conditions you find yourself in. A day for poetry and music, Hallelujah anyway.
June 15
Mars square Uranus
Jupiter square Saturn
Ouch! Unexpected upsets and limited resources with which to handle them. A froth of consequences. The least we can do is to refrain from making it worse. The most we can do requires us to stay grounded, and restrain our opinions. Better to take time and listen to our feelings and perhaps marvel at the power of what our felt sense knows that our insecure pride and defensiveness does not.
June 17
Sun sextile Chiron
Mars enters Virgo
Everything possible to be believed is an image of truth. Truth itself is illusive and shifts shape as it moves through a crowd. Even so, there is a lot to do and we might as well get to it. There never was or will be a better time for doing what has to get done.
June 18
Jupiter square Neptune
This is not just for today. But today is the day when this aspects is exact. A time to see the shape of our delusions, our confusions. Thanks to the recent square to Saturn, Jupiter reminds us again (and again this month) to be compassionate. There but for the grace of something unfathomable is it someone else who is homeless or suffering the neglect of a crumbling society. It could just as easily be me or you. But if it isn’t then we are gifted with the opportunity, the mandate, the possibility to hold someone’s suffering in the heart of compassion. There is no way to measure the mass, the size and effect of one person’s compassion over another’s. It’s a river, it flows through and between us. We are the water. Maybe we aren’t even the water, maybe we are just the energy that is in the water. Sometimes just feeling what we feel allows the river to keep flowing. Moving. Watering the soul of nature. Of which we are part.
It’s all so subjective, living in the eye, heart and mind of the beholder. That’s you. Me. Everyone we know.
