Insights for Sagittrius
These are my words. I like to think of them as ‘astropoetica’. I hope they give you something to consider. I love the word ‘consider’ because ‘con’ means ‘with’ and ‘sider’ means ‘star’. If you are a student of astrology I encourage you to make your own astropoetica out of the planetary offerings. It seems that when we talk to the cosmos, it responds.

Before the Sun enters Sagittarius:
Sun opposite Uranus
Sun trine Neptune
For most of this day, as it makes its last stand in Scorpio at the very last degree, the Sun reminds us that we, the world, are on the cusp. 29 degrees of any sign is the end, not quite the beginning. The Sun will continue on its yearly journey but not before underscoring that we have not yet entered the New Age. We are not quite at the beginning. We continue to reap what has been sowed.
Sun enters Sagittarius: 8:35 PM EST
Faith is an island in the setting sun said the poet. Faith is the cornerstone of belief. Sagittarius is the faith we need to get through the darkest time of year, believing that the light of the Sun will return. Proof, he goes on to say, is the bottom line, the way we hold steady when ‘sane people go crazy’. Poets are prophets. Sagittarius is known for excess. Perhaps we have made too much of our collective fear of the dark. We are unable to sleep in the blinding lights of our attempts to make a safer world. And then there is the insidious blue light, distorting the natural rhythms of our bodies. The brighter the light, the darker the shadow. Fear is a Scorpio thing. In Sagittarius we eat, drink and celebrate. We curse the darkness when in fact it only takes one little candle to dispel it.
As the Sun travels through Sagittarius it will sextile Pluto at the beginning and square Neptune and Saturn at the end continuing the theme of needing to finish before we can begin.
You can follow along below.

Mercury (rx) trine Saturn (rx)
Mercury (rx) trine Jupiter (rx)
Retrograde planets aligning favorably suggests there is something to learn, to realize, to consider and to honor from the past. It might be cautionary. After all, it has been said: Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. You might need to reflect on your social realities; Who are your people? How do they keep your world on track? How relevant and strong are the threads of connection? Are we simply connected by habit? Most immediate might be to count our blessings, to look for ways of sharing our good fortunes with one another because that is how abundance increases.
November 23
Sun sextile Pluto
The power to imaging a positive future even as we are mired in the past, is strengthened by real knowledge rather than superficial, transitory information regarding our essential nature. Who am I? is the question.
November 24
Venus conjunct Mercury (rx)
Tell a good story or, find one to listen to, watch or imagine. Take in a play, a movie a concert. Read a book. Reach into someone else’s imagination. All stories are part of One Big Story which tells us who we are, where we’re going and how we imagine we are getting there.
November 26
Venus trine Jupiter
Venus trine Saturn
On the 22nd Mercury (going in the opposite direction) made the same aspect to the same planets. Coming and going you might say. If you were counting blessings on the weekend you might be inclined to share them now. Social cohesion is strengthened when we share our art, craft and instinct for beauty.
November 27
Saturn stationary direct
In some very mysterious way we are connected in an ocean of feeling. Like drops of water in the great big sea we cannot always distinguish our individual feelings from the mass. Likely we are better off trusting that everything we feel individually is felt by others. Perhaps this is the root of compassion. Saturn in the last leg of its stay in Pisces takes this notion seriously.
November 29
Mercury stationery direct
Venus opposite Uranus
How has your perspective changed over the last three weeks? What has challenged your assumptions? Change is the one constant. Count on it. Be certain that letting go of what you cannot hold onto anyway opens more doors than it closes if you are willing. Resistance only closes you into smaller and smaller spaces.
November 30
Venus trine Neptune
Venus enters Sagittarius
We live in a world of paradox. Whose face gives no light can never become a star. The beauty of an open fist, a hand offered in support, makes a heaven out of hell. Fleeting connections offered freely, kiss the wind as they flash bright and vanish like flares from a boat, lost at sea. Boundless love. Time without end. We are here together and even so the journey becomes a story to inspire another – as if we are separate.
December 2
Venus sextile Pluto
Like it or else, our lives are being transformed around us by circumstance, environment, technology and politics. Still, we wake each morning and can, if we choose, say ‘yes’ to the day ahead, come what may. ‘Yes’ before our feet hit the floor. ‘Yes’ to the notion that this world is our lover as well as our self. ‘Yes’ to our basic goodness. Quite the adventure.
December 4
Full Moon: 13* Gemini: 06:14 PM EST
Real magic is not illusion wrought by some slight-of–hand master illusionist. It is the ability to live in a constantly changing rearrangement of what we think of as reality: To engage the swirling winds of impermanence and notice beauty even as you aim for truth. Right here. Right now.
December 5
Mars trine Chiron
Righteous wise action, arising from a vision founded in wisdom for the good of all is a far cry from fanatical passion to rise above and slaughter the ‘other’. Wise action looks more like creative play than holy war.
December 6
Mercury trine Jupiter
Right thought arises when we know how we feel, when we speak from a place of empathy rather than self-righteous indignation. Fear based paranoia is good for no one. Feeding others feeds the self. Starving others destroys the soul.
December 7
Mercury trine Saturn
Days that live in infamy remind us to behave as though we live in a world where the welfare of others matters as much as our own. We cannot be well if others suffer for our pleasure. There is much to be done. Together.
December 8
Mars square Saturn
Clashing agendas. Resist oppression. Every action matters. To say ‘yes’ requires that we can also say ‘no’.
December 10
Neptune stationery direct
Mercury opposite Uranus
Think outside the box of the values that conditioned you. More is not better. Progress and profit are not the best goals. The old world is washing away. Some of us feel pulled out to sea by an irresistible undertow. We know the wisdom that says we cannot solve our problems with the mindset which created them. The world in which we were conditioned is washing out to sea. Our boats may be small but by and large they are sea worthy.
December 11
Mercury trine Neptune
Mercury enters Sagittarius
Liberated, our thoughts fly like birds released from cages. The path of flight is not clear at the moment of release. Yesterday’s dead and tomorrow is blind. Stay present.
December 13
Mercury sextile Pluto
Steady on. There is a map: a blueprint, a pathway for learning which leads to greater understanding and awareness. We hone our newly liberated thoughts as they continue to take flight.
December 14
Mars square Neptune
Sun trine Chiron
All action leads to confusion if we are out of touch with our motivation. Fear feeds rage and yet our aim is true if what we truly desire is a better, kinder more just reality. No matter how insignificant our particular playing field seems to us at the moment.
December 15
Mars enters Capricorn
Mars will be here for a while encouraging us to act in ways that are efficient and encouraging the right use of whatever resources are available. Respect the limits of matter and manage for the benefit of the most even as you acknowledge the needs of the least.
December 16
Mercury leaves shadow of retrograde
Sun square Saturn
By now you likely have moved on from the recent Mercury retrograde period. So be it. Lessons learned. Wisdom earned. Or not. Today’s demands are eased by application of the kind of wisdom that only comes from experience. What has life taught you since October 21st, during Mercury’s shadows and retrograde period? Applying this earned wisdom is simply the best option: even without knowing outcomes. Even if it requires a lot of effort.
December 18
Venus trine Chiron
Give time, effort, money and most of all, love to those who will use it wisely and with vision for the future for our home and native planet: the land we walk on, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the fire that animates it. Who can say why we live? What matters most is that we keep asking.
December 19 & 20
New Moon: 28* Sagittarius: 08:43 PM EST
Sun square Neptune
Awareness of endings can oppress our ability to travel the road. Sit. Put the weight aside. All things pass. That is the way of it. We feel lost in the woods of what we think we see coming. We are found when heart and soul align. They are lovers. They need and attune to one another when necessary. Like now. Our intentions, like arrows aimed at the Galactic Center, the womb of our galaxy; where seeds of great wisdom are gestated. We scatter the seeds but cannot control where and when they take root. Nor should we.
December 21
Venus square Saturn
Jupiter square Chiron
In the early morning, before the mystic moment of winter solstice, still under the spell of the New Moon, just before the Sun enters Capricorn – we are reminded not to try to fill the emptiness, the lack, we feel, with ‘more than enough’. There is suffering all across the land. People are forced to go without amidst plenty. Celebration of our good fortune does not require us to be numb. Better to embrace the joyful sorrow and the sorrowful joy of life. See what that brings.
